Pixel 9 users face auto-brightness issue, but there's an easy fix

If you’re experiencing auto-brightness issues on your Google Pixel 9, there’s a straightforward fix you can try. Sometimes, when migrating from an older Pixel phone, the adaptive brightness data gets carried over, causing inconsistencies. Here’s how to reset your phone’s adaptive brightness model:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Navigate to Apps or Apps & notifications (depending on your device).
  3. Find and select Device Health Services.
  4. Tap on Storage and cache.
  5. Click Clear storage (don’t worry, this won’t immediately wipe all data).
  6. On the same page, you’ll find the Reset adaptive brightness setting. Click it to reset your phone’s adaptive brightness.

Keep in mind that this reset won’t instantly solve the issue—it simply clears the model your phone has built for your brightness preferences. Your Pixel 9 will still need some time to learn your habits anew. Hopefully, this fresh start will help your auto-brightness behave more consistently!
